Outside of the legislative session, the PEBC policy team reviews and updates their priorities and meets with legislators, school leaders, and other stakeholders in the field. Currently, when meeting with legislators and state leaders, their focus is on increasing access to the profession through stipends, the Educator Recruitment and Retention Program, and other programs. The policy team is also facilitating a convening on school safety along with our facilitation partners, Confluence Policy + Strategy Group, our special focus this upcoming legislative session. Last, PEBC’s policy team sits on a variety of statewide advisory boards and working groups focused on a wide range of issues in ECE-12 policy, providing thought leadership across issues such as school finance, artificial intelligence, workforce preparation, and the needs of Colorado’s rural school districts.

During the legislative session, the PEBC policy team works with our lobbyist to track bills that are important to the PEBC vision. The team continues to meet with legislators, offer testimony on bills that PEBC’s board supports, and provide insights on legislation when applicable. Throughout the legislative session, the PEBC team remains engaged in stakeholder meetings locally and statewide to collaborate with other leaders in education on improving Colorado’s educational system to make it more equitable for each and every learner.
