NEW AMERICAN PATHWAY

Program participants spend Year 1 developing their English language, classroom and technology skills and then start the PEBC Teacher Residency in Year 2 to obtain their teaching license.

Our New American Pathway is a two-year program that supports international professionals who live in Colorado, to get training, support and licensure to teach.

The first year of the program is flexible for those who are working full-time during the day. The primary focus of our program in the first year is English language development for teaching, technology support and a deeper understanding of the U.S. school system. During this year, the program also includes lab-classroom visits where New Americans can observe a veteran teacher in action and participate in a facilitated discussion about instruction and classroom management.

In the second year- PEBC intentionally matches each New American program with a mentor teacher in their content area following our Residency model. The Resident learns alongside their mentor teacher for an entire academic year, gradually taking on more lead teaching responsibility as the year progresses. Traditional Residents receive a scholarship that includes a cash payout during their residency year. 93% of Teacher Residents successfully find employment as a lead teacher the year after residency, often in their placement district.

This program is providing English language courses to students through ENGEN that will improve their levels and provide them with information related to their profession. It is very good. They provide lectures every two weeks to provide them with extensive information about their professions. There are classroom visits for observations of tangible things that students will always remember. In addition, they follow up with the students through email or texts.

PEBC has created a clear and effective program that builds strong motivation and confidence in all students. For example, the lessons taught every month by the PABC program help us get ready for the classroom. Visiting classes during lessons is also fun and helps us become better teachers. These visits let us learn from other teachers and find good ways to teach. This way, we can become better teachers and feel more confident in the classroom.
