Nancy Shakowski was a vibrant and warm woman who made you believe she had always known you - no matter whether you were a stranger, friend from college or current colleague. Nancy was a passionate educator leader who dedicated her life to uplifting others and creating positive school systems for all students. Her commitment to education led her to teach in the primary grades for 21 years and serve in administration for seven years before stepping into what she considered her life's work—advocating for accomplished teaching at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

Nancy devoted her life to strengthening the teaching profession. Her passion for elevating educators continues to inspire us at PEBC, where we prepare new teachers, foster their growth, and advocate for policies that drive student success across Colorado and the nation.
