In today’s polarized environments, superintendents and other school leaders often find themselves at the center of competing pressures, including:
- Politicized school board and community environments
- Mistrust between parents and educators
- Federal, state, and local accountability demands
- High staff turnover and low teacher morale
- Demands for greater transparency and engagement
This facilitated CoP will enable leaders to build a network with colleagues from around the country for a four-part education leadership lab where we work together on the intensifying educational and political conflicts of our time.
What will we do? And what will you get out of it?
- Focus on foundational concepts of high conflict and how Community of Practice protocols can address it
- Share research-based strategies to prevent and manage high conflict and deepen trust among colleagues, parents, and your community
- With your colleagues, discuss deep strategies to strengthen engagement and deepen trust with your community and parents
- Build a lasting support structure with other colleagues across the country to problem solve and strategize challenging issues.
- Use the Community of Practice protocol to find solutions to your challenges
CoP Benefits/Outcomes:
Provides superintendents and school leaders:
- A confidential space for trusted peers to share challenges
- Practical solutions that address immediate real (not hypothetical) problems and long-term district aspirations
- A cross-district learning network for innovation and support
- A way to shift from reactive crisis-management to proactive culture-building
- Strategies to create a culture within the school system that ensures greater trust and collaboration
- Create a new network you can rely on for ongoing support
- Have access to individual coaching and problem-solving with experts and colleagues
