What is the residency experience?

Year 1

  • Learn from a mentor teacher in an Early Childhood Education, Elementary or Secondary classroom.
  • Attend weekly seminars with your regional cohort to complete licensure coursework.
  • Obtain your Colorado Initial Teacher’s License.

Year 2

  • Work as a teacher-of-record within one of PEBC’s partnering districts.
  • Receive support from your Residency Year Field Coach during your first year.
  • Complete your district’s induction program to obtain your Colorado Professional Teacher’s License.

Years 3-5

  • Continue teaching in your own classroom.
  • Receive personal and professional development from PEBC to support your growth as an educator.

  • Anyone interested in becoming a teacher with a belief that all students deserve a great teacher
  • Individuals interested in a rigorous and supportive teacher residency program
  • Professionals looking to make a career change to teaching
  • College seniors and recent graduates who want to settle in Denver, Northeast Colorado, the San Luis Valley, Southwest Colorado or Southeast Colorado

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply to the PEBC Teacher Residency, applicants must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or able to work legally in the U.S.

Application Process

Applicants must submit an online application for the PEBC Teacher Residency. There are a limited number of applicants accepted into the Residency program each year. Candidates will be considered until the program is full for the upcoming school year.

To complete your application and move into our initial screening process, please upload copies of the following items to your online application or mail to: PEBC Teacher Residency Office, 600 Grant Street Ste 525, Denver, CO 80203. The items are:

  • Statement of Purpose and Essay
  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Copy of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree transcripts (most recent degree; unofficial copies are acceptable for your application, official copies required to complete your enrollment).
  • Two Letters of Recommendation – share this form with two recommenders to complete
