In what ways might we leverage thinking strategy instruction to build student agency and understanding?
“Thinking strategy instruction gives learners the power to fend off confusion and persevere. It takes them from helpless hand-raisers to agentic meaning-makers.” - Moker Klaus-Quinlan
In this interactive online course, educators from all content areas will explore how thinking strategy instruction fosters student success. Across twelve weeks, we will explore the research behind thinking strategies, effective processes for thinking strategy integration across the curriculum, as well as support teachers planning for implementation of thinking strategy instruction.
This course is organized into six modules; each module includes a welcome, some interactive direct instruction, choice readings, media and invitations to respond, class discussions, as well as an application task designed to bring this practice to life in your instruction. Your facilitators will regularly respond to your work on the online learning management system, there to push your thinking and cheer you on.
Includes
